UNIT 9

Reading-Writing Activity

Read the conversation from page 115 of your textbook.

Out on a Date

Steve: Well, what would you like to see?
Julie: How about  Dance Fever ? I love musicals.
Steve: Me too. Great idea.
Julie: Yeah. But Steve, one thing -- let's go Dutch. OK?
Steve: Go Dutch? No way! This is a date, and . . .
Julie: No, really. Guys always have to pay for everything. Movies are expensive. It's not fair.
Steve: But guys always pay. That's the way things are. I can afford it.
Julie: I'm sure you can afford it. That's not the point.
Steve: Tell you what. Let me pay this time. You can pay next time. OK?
Julie: Promise?
Steve: Promise.
Now answer the following questions in paragraph form.

  • Who is speaking?
  • What are they going to do?
  • What movie do they want to see?
  • What kind of movie is it?
