About the Student

Alexandra Sulecki is beginning her senior year at Florida Gulf Coast University, where she is an Environmental Science major. Her interest and experience with orchids grew out of a year she spent doing plant inventories at a wildlife refuge with Americorps' South Florida Ecosystem Restoration Project. Alexandra prepared the research proposal, "Population Survivorship Study of Two Native Orchid Species in the Big Cypress Basin," for a class on scientific research methods, taught by Dr. Michael Savarese and Dr. Mason Meers. Her proposal was originally published in the student journal, Ampersand.
