Keith Adams, originally from Vancouver, Canada, earned an MA in TEFL at San Francisco State University. After teaching in an EAP program at the University of San Francisco, he worked at the Institute of Public Administration in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, focusing on ESP courses for Saudi government employees. He then taught business English in Nicosia, Cyprus, and in 1989 began teaching business and general English courses at a private language school in Japan. Since 1991, he has been teaching at Tohoku Gakuin University, Sendai, Japan, where he is an associate professor. In addition to business English materials development, he is particularly interested in language learning strategies and learner independence.

Angela Blackwell was born and educated in Ireland, and has lived in the United States since 1981. She has an undergraduate degree in English from University College Dublin, an MA in TESOL from San Francisco State University, and the RSA Diploma in TEFLA (now the Cambridge Diploma in English Language Teaching to Adults). Since 1978, Angela has taught EFL in France, Spain, Ireland, England and the United States. She has taught business English to French students in Ireland and designed and taught business English and ESP courses in Spain and the USA. She has led training courses for teachers in Spain and in Ireland and worked as a teacher trainer for the Cambridge University CTEFLA (now CELTA) from 1991 to 1996.

Rafael Dovale was born in Cuba and came to the United States when he was 10 years old. Bilingual in English and Spanish, he has a BA in English Education and an MA in TESOL from Indiana University, Bloomington. Since 1980 he has taught ESL/EFL and business English in the USA, Mexico, Spain, Saudi Arabia, and Japan. He has been the director of Matsushita Electric's language program for the last 10 years. His main area of interest in ESL/EFL is "student empowerment" through learning strategies and skills and optimal classroom behaviors.
