World War II in Europe

Aided by the Nazi-Soviet pact of August 1939, which allowed them to concentrate their fighting on a single front, the Germans, in one of the most successful military campaigns in history, ripped through the Low Countries and France. The Maginot line of defense constructed by the French proved totally useless.
